Default My Windowsill Growing Area

Hi all!

I thought I would be more active in posting threads and share some pictures of my crowded windowsill growing spaces

I live on the 23rd floor of a high-rise apartment building in Chicago north of the downtown area, and the windows face south, so I get some great light

I grow mostly catts, but I also have dends, a paph, a cymb, ascds, a psychopsis, mini roses, a promenea species...a happy mix

Thanks for looking!
~Becky

Now that looks like the perfect place to grow orchids, and you get a super nice view of the city!

It's not that crowded, yet. Still a bit of room for a few others!

Hi Becky

Very smart setup. You seem to have enough variety of orchids, and trying different methods to end up with some well adapted plants even in these challenging indoor conditions which I too work with.

I just have one question. Since you live in the Norther US I was wondering if you considered supplemental lighting for the Winter months. I found my cattleyas bloom much better with inexpensive 60 watt (that is 60 actual watts coming off the line not "equivalent" watts) compact fluorescent lamps. They don't have the industrial look of the common shoplight type setup.
