Default My growing set-up

I realized that I had never shared a pic of my growing set-up. And now that I've finally got it all figured out, thought I would. Here's two pics, left and right side (would've taken just one pic of the whole, but the CFL was causing my camera to act up).

The shelf is about 30" wide, 12" deep, with an inner height of about 24". The CFL is 100 watts. In addition, the shelf is perpendicular just to the right of a big southern window. Small fan in upper left corner. Temp-Humidity meter is nestled back in the center. I also run a warm vapor humidifier which sits on the floor about a foot in front of the shelf unit.

Great looking area! Does the sun reach most of this area?

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Thanks, Becca & Ross! Ross, for the most part, yes, the sun travels across the entire shelf over the course of the day. When the sun is higher in the sky, however, it only travels about half way across. However, the CFL is doing the brunt of the work, I'm sure. Doesn't come across in the photos, but I'd say 75% of my orchids are sporting purple in some form on the leaves.

Fantastic! Way to go. Guess you have it dialed in then.
