Default Where my chids live

I took a few photos today of where my orchids live. It's a modest setup for a modest collection, but the plants are quite happy. And since they're in my living room I get to enjoy them almost all of the time I'm home.

Nice setup. How do you like the lights?

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Nice to be able to see them where you spend a lot of time. What kind of lights are those? Nice set up.

I honestly am not sure what the lights are other than compact flourscents. I've had them about 4 months and they seem to keep the plants happy. I can't say anything either positive or negative about them so far from a technical standpoint, but I'm satisfied with them. The natural light from the windows, though, is pretty good. So far I'm most pleased with the results I've gotten since putting humidifiers beneath the bottom shelves on both sides.

Looks like a great setup and the plants certainly look healthy. Is that an East exposure window?

It's East-South-East, and with a nice eave overhanging it.

I like your setup. I may need to try something similar for the plants which prefer a winter rest. I can separate them into a cooler area and use a light setup like yours. Marilyn

Thanks, Dorothy. I suppose eventually I'll figure out where to put posts!
