now why on earth would i do that??? LOL

in my meager defense, i learned all i know about gardening from my two grandfathers and learned it all at their houses in Phoenixville pa and Lowell ma. one is all clay and the other is worse LOL and very little of it has any application where i actually live

i am also never one to claim any real skill beyond geography. and finally

Nepenthes is easy to root cuttings from. Easiest, take cuttings from a newly growing stem with a basal rosette. Count down three or four leaf nodes, and sever below the leaf node. Cut off one or two leaves, careful not to take off too much (don't cut too close to node). Plant in perlite, keep moist and humid (shouldn't be a problem there). Nepenthes doesn't care for rooting hormones, so skip that part. When it gets four or five rootlets, pot it up.

My orchid buddy here has a greenhouse room with a whole wall covered in nepenthes... a couple years ago his daughter was trimming it up, and accidentally cut main growing stems. Whoops! It's now back to covering the wall almost as well as it was before.

my bamboo orchid now looks me in the eye....and i am 6'4" i have read that they get to about this height and then the weight of the keikis pulls them down and they root themselves and spread....i have opted to NOT stake or bind this plant but i am not ready to give it a 12' circle to take over....the waiting game continues....

oh, in case you cant tell, the flower is coming from the end of that cane, the rest of the growth is a feisty keiki that is pushing the limits of my restraint

coming from you, that is exciting to hear...i have agree with SouthPark, they are so lovely that i almost don't care if they bloom.

I also realized that if they are as happy here as they seem then i might be landscaping my entire world with them
