Ohh, that is too coool!!! Or should I say hot?
As for me, my problem is keeping things cool and humid. I got lots of heating in the winter which leads to dryness and I need AC's in the summer which leads to dryness.

We now have 17 people with a "yes" vote in the poll, but I only see 10 members names in the follow-up posts. If you have voted "Yes" but haven't left a post about it, please make an entry so I can keep track of who will be involved in our project.
I would appreciate it
Thanks

Hi
I am AMATEURORCHID. I live near boston. I have indoor plant shelf setup. I love catasetum family, species phals, etc.
Just a question: What plant price range are we talking about?

I have a few species orchids on my wishlist:
Sarc Hartmanii, Neof Falcata, Dend Spectabile, Florida ghost orchid are on the top.

I have a few with me too:
Acineta Superba, Perist elata, few Pescos., Dyakia, Phal Gigantea, etc

Thanks
Srivida

Hi Srivida, happy to have you with us
There's no set price range but I would think we'll probably stay under the $30.00 mark.
We'd love to have you join us...did you vote "Yes in the poll?
Come join us in the chat room some night (we're usually there around 8PM est) as this subject and ideas get tossed around a lot
Hope to see you there

I've sent an email to Exotic Orchids of Maui in regards to our project. I think it makes sense to decide on a vendor (for the members participating in the U.S.), then on an orchid, for our project. I've asked them if they'd give us a discount if we decide to use them as this projects's vendor...if they say no, then we can contact some others. This should make it easier for us to choose a plant, rather than bouncing all over.
I would also love to order from Andy's again, as their plants are exquisite, but I don't want to take advantage of their generosity, as they helped us in our first project.

If anybody would like to suggest a US vendor, I'd be happy to contaact them about helping us.
Let me know...

BTW, how cute is this???

GMTA.. ..I have been looking at Maui's, there product is excellent, and what a variety. Hopefully we can narrow this down and be able to flip flop our likes and dislikes wtih one vendor. I really like the one you hyperlinked Barkeria whartonianum x Barkeria melanocaulon. Small is good, its got my vote.

I wonder if we couldn't work it around the free shipping. I could easily order the $50 worth of orchids from them. I ADORED my last order from them with the free shipping!!!! Also, people closer together could share an order for free shipping.......
But if not, I could EASILY find a plant or 2 to love from Maui Orchids!!

THIS is the orchid style I was talking about Sue and Kris... where the petals on top look like antelope antlers
Maui Orchids has a neat curly petaled Dend... I really am Dended out but I would love some curly petals!

http://store.mauiorchids.com/merchan...ory_Code=MiscH - this one is really pretty and different

http://store.mauiorchids.com/merchan...tegory_Code=SP - a species. and here is a better pic of the bloom

http://store.mauiorchids.com/merchan...tegory_Code=SP with a better picture There is still the really cool - can you grow male or female flowers http://store.mauiorchids.com/merchan...tegory_Code=SP

I love this one http://store.mauiorchids.com/merchan...tegory_Code=SP

And OK I'm done flooding this post now....
