I tried to get a much clearer pic with my camera but it would get one? I am sure if I tinkered with the camera settings I could do it, but that would mean I would have to ask BF and he already puts up enough with my orchids just being in the apt lol he is tech savvy and I am not. He is a tech junkie and I am the orchid junkie lol. I had a little spider make its home on my monticola and I found out this morning that he died poor guy. I never bothered it, and I was quite happy it was there. Well the spike hasn't grown it seems. It's just there, but it's still green which is good.

Mandy I hope you can get a close up picture of the spike for us all the see... Sorry about your new room mate, (the spider) dying on you. I am one that also don't mind a spider or two around. Just as long as they are the small ones. I find they keep away the ants from nibbling and building nests in my orchid pots.

Poor little spidy. My thing, root or what ever is doing nothing either. The one I know is a root is growing but the other thing is not. I still can't tell what it is.

This orchid is really testing my patience lol it's so cute and beautiful so I put up with it. I will get my BF to fix that camera's settings for a nice pic soon.

J&L's sight say's there's are spiking now so I'm thinking tiss the season. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed it could be a spike. But if it is it seems stalled and I fear it will stall forever.

My plant is continuing to grow. The new root it started in my care has reached the media and is about 1/2" long, the leaf that was 1/3 grown is now mature and a new leaf is starting. I grow it in my bathroom in a south facing window (probably not adequate light here in the bay area) and try to remember to water it twice, or more, a week depending on the weather.

Meanwhile mine is growing some new roots, but the new leaf has been completely eaten off by critters. Maybe no spikes for me this fall

Mine's got a very tiny root nub and a bulge that I hope is also going to be a root because it really, really needs more roots.

Mine finally decided to restart growth on a pre existing air root. But other than that, still no growth at all. The plant, other than that root, looks exactly like on the first day I had it. Might as well be a plastic plant!

On a side note, a few days ago I discovered that one of the TC plants is infested with scale (My Gastrochilus dasypogon). I didn't see anything when I did the initial inspection when they arrived, but I'm glad that the new plants have been kept away from the others since they arrived. Meh. And I just treated everybody else for mealie bugs...
