Here are some updated photos. I lost a couple of the really small corms but so far no large seedling loss. I think they are growing!

Also a couple of photos showing the T5 lights.

Beautiful!! Good Job!! just deflasked one flask last week... Need to post photos!

What r the ones with the mottled leaves? (sorry can't remember which flasks u got!) and how do u get those labels to stick to the clay pots? I haven't tried yet, but I have a label-maker & wanted to use it for my flask babies, but wasn't sure they would stick to the clay pots with all that moisture & humidity!

Hi Mary,

The mottled leaves are Phal schilleriana. Sometimes the labels don't stick, but if I put them on when the pot is dry they seem to last longer.

Well, I think Im going to loose one Phal Buena Jewel x Dragon Tree Eagle. Its bottom leaf started to turn yellow and the roots are a dark grey. Not sure what the deal is with that one. All the other ones look great.

Well, it got way warm in the shadehouse yesterday and I think I lost the Paraphal denevei. I was letting the seedlings grow bigger in the flask. Well, I broke the flask and washed them and tried to compot them. We'll see...but I think they are goners. Dang! I contacted Mick to see if he has any more so I can try again.

Oh no! Hope you manage to save some.

Mine are doing well so far. Quite a few of them have started new leaves, including the second smallest! I'm really busy right now, so sorry for the lack of updates.

I checked the seedlings tonight and found some slugs! I have no idea how they managed to get in there. Looks like they got a couple of leaves but I don't think they got any full plants. I did some squashing.

I'm going to de-flask my others this weekend.

Now that I've officially, albeit belatedly, joined the team, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Alla, and I re-started growing orchids last November. My first foray into orchid growing was from 1992 until 1997, when frequent business travel made it impossible for me to keep them and I had to give them away.

I have posted about my somewhat unusual setups - an aeroponic wall, currently full of catts, and a shelf inside a bay window. Both of these setups combine my two passions - orchids and concrete. Not just any concrete, but a very high strength, low pH, Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) which is also my business. I make custom architectural elements, and my hope is that the elements I've put in my own house will become prototypes for future commercial installations. I'm working on other living wall designs as well, and I expect the flasklings I've just ordered to be the 'test tenants' of current and future designs.

So I've ordered two flasks from Kingfisher:

P. Princess Kaiulani 'Chin Yo' AM/AOS* X* P. bellina 'Joy'*

and

P. I-Hsin Bee 'Cuz'* X* Tying Shin Golden Rose 'Bronze'

The first one is fragrant, and Pat has one more available. The second promises to have spectacular red-bronze colour with some golden spotting.

If anyone is interested in a list of other flasks that Pat has, please PM me and I will send it, or let me know if it's ok to post it here.

I'm really looking forward to participating and sharing in this new (for me) experience.
