I'm still waiting to hear from Woodstream, I guess I'll have to call them this weekend. Adriana, I might be taking you up on your offer.

Y'all's flasks look like they r gonna make some pretty babies! I have two flasks from Peter Lin (Big Leaf Orchids) And they look great! All the media is where it's supposed to be, and are ready to be deflasked! (according to my eyes)

#1 Phal speciosa 'Blue' x maculata 'Orange'
#2 Phal (Ho's Green Double- micholitz 'Peter Lin' HCC/AOS x maculata f. flava 'Orange')

I put the flask list on the first page... hopefully there will be more to add soon! And do let me know if any of it is wrong!

Sorry I'm late in replying to the flask thread. I've been very busy and was waiting to hear if my replate seedlings were ready. And they are! so no need to get another flask.

I'll be growing up a compot of Phal LD's Bear Queen 'Limeade' x OrchidKonnection Passion 'OK'.

Will post pics as soon as I get my camera back from my daughter!

I think I have something listed for everyone who's posted on this thread... still a few folks who signed up who haven't been in. Hopefully we'll see you soon!

Hi All,

Sorry haven't been online for a few days. The last round of chemo made me really tired. I should be bouncing back by this weekend. I'll have more photos and information to post.

Default Deflasked!

Hi all, I just finished with my deflasking:

Here's pictures of what the flask looked like, it got pretty shaken up during shipping, this hasn't been a problem for me in the past but this time I noticed there were a lot of broken roots.

There were about 27 sort of decently sized seedlings, and a lot of undifferentiated little roots and leaves.

I sprayed them down with captan and used this method to pot them up into compots. There was also a mass of undifferentiated tiny roots and leaves that I kept together and put into a 2" pot.

I then put them in my humidity dome along with other seedlings I've deflasked and put these the farthest away from the vent where the computer fan is going to be. The new ones are on the left in this picture, the ones on the right were deflasked on Feb. 1st.

Here is a view from the side where you can see the humidity meter, seedling heat mat, and computer fan all set up. I'm going to keep this in my kitchen so I can keep an eye on them for the next week or so, and after that I'll put them up on my growing shelf under a low LED light with the same heat mat and fan.

What I've done with the others is make sure the humidity stays up for the first week or so and then little by little I'll open up the vents a little more and let the humidity go down a little further before each time I water. Seems to have worked pretty well so far.

Wow, that was quite a mass of plants!

After 2 weeks mine are looking much the same really: I think their colour is better, but it doesn't really show on photos if so! The fine cobwebby fungus around the littlest plant (which has now ended up being called 'little moldy'), has died down, though it's cropping up elsewhere. I think it's dying back though as I give them more time with the top off. The blue mold spots have also gone black/died.

All the fungus stuff happened last time I grew flasks, so I'm not too worried. I do think this time I started off with the medium wetter, and with the fert in too, so I think that has made it more widespread than it was. Plants seem happy, so I am! All alive so far...

PS: Shady, hope you are feeling better by the weekend, if not before! I know someone in 'real life' is currently going through chemo. Still don't know what to say!

So, its been a week since I have deflasked my seedlings. They all look amazing! I see one small bit of mold from a damaged root that looks like its contained to it. My baggie method worked perfect and while it was 100% humidity it wasnt wet. I even see a few new leaflets!

This is the vent. I will cut it back even more today after I give them a tad more water. Im letting them air a tiny bit as they have been a tad warm the past few days.
