Hi Susanne, Just found the explanation of what the projects are and also found this thread... it took about 45 minutes to read all the entries and guess what: It's a cool idea!!!! And I would love to join the this one
Let's see which orchid is chosen at the end and I'll try to find it here in Europe...
Oh yes, I love looking at those beautiful cards and pictures with such wonderful scenery and think of being under a warm blanket with hot chocolate in front of a fire........and then I step in a snow drift or a puddle of melted muddy snow Oh well, spring will be here soon and we will be picking the project plant and ordering it.
Oooh...as a newbie, this looks like so much fun! Depending on my schedule and finances (yay for being a full time grad student with a part-time job...), I would love to participate.
First discussions scheduled to start in our chat room March 9 at 8pm EST
Hope to see lots of new faces joining the rest of us
Start keeping an eye open for a plant you might llike to suggest. Keep in mind it must be an Intermediate grower and nothing too big as lots of folks have space issues.
This project will be slightly different from the others in that we will be able to order from any vendor we want to. The downside to this is there will be no discount on the project plants
I would love to order from Andy's again and perhaps if we get quite a few from there, he may issue a discount? Would that be a possibility? Those who want to buy elsewhere are free to do so. Does that sound doable? I know many have space issues, but some, like me, have money issues also. Just a thought. kiki-do
Hi all, just a question in the air and let's see what happens....
Would it be possible to start the discussion on the plant to choose a bit earlier? My point is this: beggining of April, there is an International Orchids Exhibition in Thun (Switzerland) and I would like to use the opportunity to order some plants in advance, that I could pick then at the exhib (currently trying to order a catt. violaceae semi-alba from New Zealand, but the guys are not very responsive )... this would have the benefit of saving all the money needed for shipping, CITES and Phytosanitary permits needed for Switzerland...
As for the Exhibition, I will post the pictures the weekend after it PROMISED!!!
I can move the start date back one week, so the first discussions will be on March 2. The plan is for us to be able to order the plants by mid-April...and there's a good chance we'll have made a decision by the time you'd like to pre-order yours.
I would love to go to the exhibition in Thun!! One question... Would I have any problems to bring plants back to france??? I could look for the OB project plant too
