PS, how do I know if a laelia is rupiculous? Anyone got a list?

(I think Paph Maudia or similar is going to need defining too!)

If we are going for the 'hybrid or group of similars' project then can I suggest that to save you some work you don't check numbers until after the poll? Since the idea is to have things that are widely available I think that those making a nomination should be able to give, say, three sources/alternatives in each region for their nomination to be accepted?
Sadly it isn't so easy. In many projects people have been asked to research their suggestions before posting. But there's always too many people who either can't read, or can't be bothered to follow directions. It's actually easier to check/double check as the suggestions are made. But I'll try again, to ask people to do research before... I'm busy making the threads right now.

As for your Laelia question, good question. Maybe someone will be able to provide a list of all the rupicolous species.

Google rupicolous Laelias and they will come up. Another group of Laelias that would be fun too are the Hadrolaelias. For me the Hadrolaelias are easier to bloom than the rupicolous Laelias. The rupicolous Laelias are also very temperamental when being repotted and are hard to root.
Here are the Hadrolaelias:
Laelia pumila
Laelia praestans (synonym spectabilis)
Laelia dayana
Laelia alaorii
Laelia jongheana

I can try and make a list of the rupicolous Laelias. There are a lot of them and some are hard to find.

Hadrolaelias might be a better suggestion then. I was reading up on the rupicolous ones, and they don't seem to be the easiest. We can discuss this in the suggestion thread, it'll be up in a few minutes

Yeah I really like the rupicolous Laelias but they are hard to bloom (for me anyway) even though they get high light and the growths are purple. They are really hard to establish after repotting too. But I can still make a list of them.
