Actually seriously I have to clear some space before I get anything else... and it's an orchid society meeting on Saturday!

Anyone in the area of London UK want a phal Sogo Yukidian? Long story... but I've ended up with two and huge flowers aren't really my thing!

Arrgggg! Wondering if mentioning plants on this board is sometimes a way to jinx them. Literally finished that last post, went into another room, just glanced at one of the Yukidians, and there's something sitting on it... HUGE mealie. I thought they were just little bits of fluff but this one must have been nearly a cm long.

So that's either an ex-Chelsea display plant (which the Yukidians are) or a donation to the orchid society from RHS Wisley (other plants that I got the same time and have been sitting with it...) came mealie infested...

I really like the rupiculous laelia suggestion, there are so many to choose from and are pretty cheap and easy to acquire.

Sorry guys for not having launched the summer project yet! I am absolutely swamped with work, which explains my absence from OB lately. Just as I booked my tickets for a 3 week vacation at home in August, Murphy and his damn law decided to give me a hand with my experiments. Result, I've fallen majorly behind schedule and if I want to go on vacation I had to cram 8 weeks of work into only 4 weeks.

So I'll try to find time today to start the project, but I won't be very active. I'll limit my participation to the organization only and double checking your suggestions (which is work enough!). And if you don't mind, the project will be a quick one since I don't want to spend my entire vacation on it. So I was thinking to have about 3 weeks for suggestions, and then probably only 1 poll.

At this point, a little bit more work is hardly noticable! At least it's fun work. And if we don't get the project going now, it won't happen. Waiting until September isn't really possible because then the Canadians may not be able to order in early-mid October.

If you need to delegate some work, let me know.

If we are going for the 'hybrid or group of similars' project then can I suggest that to save you some work you don't check numbers until after the poll? Since the idea is to have things that are widely available I think that those making a nomination should be able to give, say, three sources/alternatives in each region for their nomination to be accepted?
