Project 4-Spike?
Hi Everyone,
I wasn't sure if this was the right forum to post this in, but...
I have a few questions about the project and the plant itself. I notice on the bottom of the main forums page an event listed is project 4 photo update. How does this work? Do we post the photos in our galleries?
Also, I was wondering if you all thought this may be a spike emerging? I have lots of new roots and a new leaf, but this little bugger doesn't look like another new root to me. What do you think?
Thanks a bunch in advance!

I have no idea. I would wait a little longer and see. But then again, my plants have only given me one spike (which reminds me, I need to post that!)

If it has white on it .. it's most likely a root -
Until you are sure, I'd call it a nubbin'
or a shock and awe spirootkeik
( I think that term is designated for phals )

It's hard to say at this point. I know I, for one, tend to watch my 'chids every day for signs of something new like a spike, but these guys can be sooooo slow!

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

I cannot find this event...perhaps I am not looking in the correct place...but if I look on the Calendar I am able to find it. I too would like to know if we are just posting updated pictures to the Project 4 Gallery or if there is a special place for updated photo's. I didn't realize we were updating our pictures on the 17th...but I already took pictures and posted them I set a reminder through the calender for the future dates!

Try http://www.orchidboard.com/community...rs.php?cat=695 where you would upload your photos directly to this gallery instead of your own gallery. If they are already in your gallery, just edit the photo to move it to this gallery. Hope this helps.

Pinkcat, I agree with Dave B. that it is a root. I got to looking at my spike last night and it is much skinnier. I also a root popping out just as what yours looks like, but don't be disappointed, new root growth is great and I sometimes wait months just to see new root growth on newly purchased plants!

Hi Ami
It looks like a root to me...which is not necessarily a bad thing
Any new growth makes me happy
The pictures get posted in the Project 4 Gallery...I have it set on the calendar just as a reminder...it doesn't have to be posted on that specific date
So far, mine looks just about the way it did when I got it
