Lots of root growth, and what looks like a new pseudobulb. What a slow growing orchid! At least it seems happy, I guess.

The mounting on clamshell idea seems to have worked well. The sphagnum moss dried up and died, but the soph seems happy under these conditions. Both fragments of the initial orchid are putting out several roots each.

I'm watering about every other day, which is how long it takes for the moss to dry. Not sure how the orchid will be able to attach to the smooth surface, though. For now, it's kind of hanging off the supporting wires, with the shell helping trap humidity.

Mine has 2 new growths, possibly more starting.........depending on the answer to this question. Does anyone know if the sympodial growth is one way ? or can it "fan" out in all directions from old growths ?
The roots at the back of the mount are growing strong, all in all about 2-3 inches long.

My little soph is alive, amazing for a non-scented orchid that blooms once a year. It has gotten nice, fast-growing, purple-tipped roots, but no growth. The leaves are red from sunlight and it is actually doing great in the heat and dryness bare root on that mount (not wrinkling). Pretty tough little orchid. I think it has nearly fastened to the mount. I'll wait to check, though.

That is a large cernua, Vina. You have a mature bulb that have formerly bloomed with four to five flowers if you look at the old spike. The most exciting is the new growing bulb forming that will definitely give you more blooms when it matures.
