What a shame to give up so darn quickly, when you were so excited about this plant in the beginning. I think you are making a huge mistake, and part of this project is to grow things that we wouldn't try to grow otherwise. I can understand giving up on it after a while but not after a few weeks! There's more to orchids than Phals and Paphs you know! And always space for a little cutie like cernua. You can grow it, I know you can.

Giving Camille and Mutant a bump. Little guy takes up so little space, and it's a project orchid after all. As a reminder, if you didn't know, I've killed 2 project plants now... This one looks like it might survive. Never give up. It's just one orchid (famous last words....)

When all is said and done, I admire Mutant for being honest.....and finding a good ( south-facing ! ) home for the sophie. I am having issues now because I have about 4 catts, mostly rescues, that I REALLY need to get rid of for space reasons - but am struggling to find good homes.
I am also keeping away from the big-box stores because the "rescues" keep calling out to me !

Anytime I have a plant that has run it's course with me (and is still alive and relatively healthy) I take it to an orchid society meeting, and give it for raffle.

I have to say - that is a real shame. It can't have been much more than a month, surely? It's such a tiny little thing and seems really forgiving.

It's admirable to want to give it to someone else rather than end up killing it, but sometimes it's better to experiment and push ourselves out of our comfort zones. We learn a lot about ourselves and our capabilities that way.

haha.....thought of that, they wouldn't accept them if I tried ! The raffle plants are immaculate !
I am going to have to find someone but the people I speak to have a been there, done that attitude...
We need a home for unwanted orchids to be established. Maybe I can leave them at the doors of a nursery !

It's an extremely slow grower and the patience I have with the Paphs are completely gone when it comes to this guy.

The Phal. stuartiana which underwent the same treatment (removed from mount and got leaf chopped) is busily growing and making me very happy.

I've started to feel the same, well, "hatred" towards this guy as I did towards the African Violet I killed when I was younger and I don't want it to suffer the same fate so I want it gone and that as quickly as possible.

I think the biggest issue is that it isn't a Phal or a Paph, and that I'm too set in my liking these genera and none else so everything that isn't either one will have to show me quickly why I should keep it or it's out.

Yup, I'm a horrible person for doing this, but I've found a new home to it where it'll be properly loved so it'll move this Friday.

Um... You obviously don't know me Bud, but I would never go out clubbing or dancing since that would be too stressful for me and no fun at all.

I am trusting my instincts and they're screaming to me to get rid of it before I toss it.
I don't see how one more little orchid would make you that much more tired. I know tired believe me. It's a shame you are dropping out so soon. I think you would love the flowers. But if you only want Phals and Phaphs, that's fine. I just don't understand why you didn't vote for one of the Phals or Paphs on the voting list if that is all you want to grow. I also don't know how you could hate a plant to death. Hate is a strong word. Anyway Good luck!

Plus, most paphs and phals bloom once a year too. Idk, I don't get it. Keeping an orchid alive for a year to bloom is the best thing.

Good luck mutant.

HI, Here's my project plant in the little pot. I believe that it has really grown and is doing quite well.
