I'll be keeping mine in the net pot. I already feel like I have too many orchids on mounts/vases demanding daily attention.

Well, I already had one of these from a trade I did with other members, but in sad condition. So my objective for this project is to get this plant into good form. I'm well on my way. It has started to grow a new lead and one small root. I mounted it on apricot with a small amount of moss. I will be growing it outdoors for the summer and will see what condition it's in when winter rolls around to see if I should bring it in.

For those that are getting it and keeping it mounted, I'm terrible with mounts, but this orchid seems to be one of the more forgiving ones of low humidity and occasional neglect. I had one up until 2 years ago (lightning fast case of rot killed it) and it really liked to dry out almost completely between waterings. With lots of light (new growths should have purple edging) it is also easy to bloom.

It just got added to my morning soaking list (currently 2 vandas, one haraella retrocalla, one den. rigidum and one angcm. distichum)
I noticed they were mounted and wondered how attached to the mount they would be. I can't grow mounted. I'm away too much and they would go days without water. I may have to wait for another project. It would also be quite cool in the greenhouse in the winter. Oh well, one of these times there will be one that suits my conditions!

Didn't you get my PM about the different cernua? The var. mineira grows better in cool to intermediate temps, according to what Ramon found out from a grower.

For the mount, what you could do is set the mount in a clay pot with sphag. That's what a grower here had done with an overgrow mount he sent me, and eventually the roots plunged into the pot. Until they did, the extra sphag kept the mount damp longer.

I call to order in. They said to send an e-mail because a LOT of people had sent in requests already. They didn't look to sure they had enough...
