these certainly are grown by us in varying conditions.

I looked it up on Orchidwiz and they say it requires 80% humidity all year round, so you are on the right track
Doesn't explain why mine does so well at humidity of around 50% indoors....

Thanks! Yea, I found a page that talked about them wanting higher than 75% for productive growing so I figured 55-65% wasnt cutting it. Hopefully I get some blooms on mine.

Remember how mine fell apart when mounting? Well, the smaller two pbulb lead has yet to put out ANYTHING in almost a year. The larger 4 pbulb lead has put out roots and a new pbulb in that year.

Are there different types of these? Mine seems very tolerant of dry air. Some of my other orchids have been suffering but whatever I have as a soph. does not. It's tolerance of neglect/dry conditions is why I like it, despite it being non-fragrant.

Hmm, then again, it only put out one new growth instead of multiples but I thought that perhaps this was due to me disrupting its potted life for a mount.

I'd have to assume so. I'll try this for at least a month and see what happens.

Mine's potted and growing in ambient humidity. It put out 2 growths over the summer, and is working on another one now. But the Netherlands is quite humid in the spring-summer, I think the humidity indoors was around 70-80%, 90 on the 'bad' days. In the winter it's around 50-60. But I agree, I find it to be pretty tolerant of the lower humidity now.

I also grow mine in ambient humidity which in the winter is 40%-60% with temps from 58F - 68F. It is mounted on a cork slab and is misted 1 to 2 times daily.

I have 3 new growths this season and one has bloomed with 3 flowers. Other 2 growths are still in-progress.

I had read that it is easy to rot the buds when watering so I have been extra careful to mist by hand and not "dunk" the plant once the leaves opened to reveal the buds.
