STILL no shipping??? Are you at the northpole or something? I can hardly imagine it still being wintery cold, over here the trees are turning green, and the dutch spring bulb season is in full swing.
YES! I think we are! Spring had started to really make some progress and then BAM! Too low a temperature for shipping. Schwerter won't ship until the temperatures stay above 5*C and we are expecting to get some minus degrees next week. Since I don't want to risk my plants, I've informed all of the nurseries/vendors I've ordered from (somehow it has become a few all of a sudden... : ) about the temperatures, and so far they're holding off from shipping. It seriously sucks to have to wait like this! And my P. stuartiana that I ordered from Schwerter died too...

You mean the stuartiana died while still at Schwerter's? Better there than at your place, at least you don't have to pay for the plant!

Yes it did and I know, but I had somehow managed to attach myself to it despite never laying eyes on it in real life!

But I've ordered one from a Swedish vendor instead. I had placed an order for a Paph. hainanense and then I noticed they had P. sturartianas too, so I asked if they could add one to my order, which they could and did. Both plants will probably be shipped on Monday! Woot!

The cernua is lovely, but I'm a bit worried about it being mounted! Of the 3 places I've found in the EU 2 say it's mounted and one doesn't say. Also worried I'll end up buying other mounted plants with it because that's how the same sellers have them...

I used to have a Soph cernua, and it's very easy to grow mounted. In fact, it pretty much has to grow that way for it to be its best.
I wouldn't worry to much about it. I usually have a lot of trouble keeping mounted plants happy, and now avoid buying such plants. But the Soph, while it likes to be wet, also likes to dry out well between waterings. Of the mounts I had, that's the orchid that suffered the least when I forgot to water. It's a very easy and forgiving plant to grow. Mine died of a lightning fast case of rot unfortunately, during a particularly wet period during a summer.

Ramon grows it potted and it looks like he has great success - Sophronitis cernua

I've never grown anything mounted, but I'm looking forward to trying. And if it's not working you can always take if off the mount and pot it.

Mutant, start looking for lots of shelving units and lights.

Rowan, I was really worried about getting my first mount as well for fear of not being able to give it the right humidity. I now have over 2 dozen mounted and am loving it. It is about the only way I can grow bulbos. And, it looks so COOL!!

I would suggest that if you grownit potted you use terracotta pots... They dry out pretty quick, and makes a good balance for wet/dry conditions for this kind of plants, without need of watering everyday...
