My research for light indicates that they should be between 2000 and 3000 footcandles, so almost cattleya light. They should be get filtered or diffused light and not exposed to dirrect midday sun. Some people seem to claim that they grow well in the tropical Vanda conditions while others suggest a high light, and still yet others low light, lol... Not a lot of consistency on that one.

One thing I did find interesting is that if the internodes of the stem or th eleaves of a plant are longer than usual measurements as assigned by the Bakers on OrchidCulture.com, or if the leaves are rather soft and limp, then th eplant is probably not receiving enough light. If they are shorter than normal and leaves are hard and stiff then this would indicate too much light.

This is NOT my personal recommendations, but rather what has been indicated by research and the Baker's.

Paul, after reading your comments above, I'm wondering if mine has been in too much light. All of my leaves are quite hard, maybe a little more firm than a phal. However, the leaves are a dark/middle green, but I'm not sure these follow the green indicates light hypothesis. Anyone have some thoughts?

OK, After reading about this orchid, I understand that it likes to be evenly moist, mod-high light levels, fairly high humidity, etc. (I live in a semi-arid climate. This will be a good learning experience. I can keep the sunroom humidity up--has an evaporative AC.)

Is that what you guys understand as well? I got mine from Kawamoto on ebay. I am looking forward to this & meeting all of you.

Yeah, a bit, but he is in Hawaii and does 2 day shipping, so I think it's worth it. But, 30 bucks to ship 4 plants 2 day I didn't think was unreasonable, especially given the price I got on the plants I purchased. Didn't even work out to 22 per plant.
