Monthly update~~~~

The trichoglottis is now in a vase. (see the Vanda in a vase thread) I did that as a lot of the roots had died off. The plant is now making new rootlets. Leaves look good.

How is everybody else's plant doing?

Well, mine also had quite a bit of root loss there for a while, but I did not do anything different other than start watering it twice a day during the hottest days. Now, all of the roots have tons of new growths branching out of them.

The only other really new development has been that 3 new leaves have grown since I got it. Though the Baker's seem to indicate that if the distance between leaves is not very much then it may not be getting enough light. I'm afraid that may be the case with mine.

Paul~~~

How far apart are the leaves supposed to be if light requirements are good?

Thanks~~

Mine has been in a vase since shortly after receiving it. It is finally growing new roots and the second new leaf has started.

pedidiva, my research would indicate the following:

If the measurements of the internodes are greater than .4-.6 inches, or if the leaves are rather soft and limp, then it may not be receiving enough light.

If the measurements are shorter or the leaves are hard stiff leaves then it may be too much light.

Sorry for getting back with you so late. I've had fairly limited access to my information with in-laws staying with us while family is in ICU.

Paul~~~

I hope that family member(s) in the ICU are stable & improving. Please, there is no need to apologize for returning comments to me IRL or on the message board. There are many more important things going on in your life.

I hope that things go well with your family.

Hi all,

Mine should be ready to bloom next season. I think mine was a nbs or a late bloomer bs because I didn't get any spikes this year. It looks like it will be ready next year though. IOSPE says that the bloom cycle is spring to summer. I'm hoping for blooms by May 2012.

Hi all,
I got a little Trich. brachiata this past Fri. on a visit to Smiley orchids. I didn't know it was a member project plant, but I've read the thread with interest. I'll post a pic or two tomorrow, as I can't keep my eyes open any longer right now!
Good Growing,
Tony
