My replacement plant is so far not as free flowering as the original one. The original was always spiking, while this one just grows and grows. Nice, but a spike would be great!

Hopefully yours will grow to a point it becomes free flowering again. I'm pretty sure mine just grew for a while before it got to flowering as much as now.

The new one is already twice as big as the old one though. Could just be genetic variation within the species though, and some populations flower earlier?more often than others.

Well I just remembered to get shots before the latest lot faded. The pics were taken last week and the flowers have started dropping now.

Also pictured is the 'pod' from the previous August flowers. I have no idea how this could have been pollinated so I'm guessing this is an empty pod, but who knows

Just been checking this plant. It has 5 basel keikis ranging between 5 leaves and 8 leaves each. And the main stem has 18 leaves. I'm really pleased how well this one has been doing

Wow Rosie, yours is looking amazing! Mine's just coming into spike again and is doing ok, though I think it might be getting more/ too much light in comparison to yours as the leaves on mine are a lot lighter

Rosie,

Some vandaceous orchids can take 300 days for the pod to ripen.

Can't believe it! Think I see spikes on mine AGAIN!

Could be 3 spikes, two on the main growth and one on one of the basil keikis!
