I feel the same way and I did a little research. Apparently Gastrochilus somai is synonymous with Gastrochilus japonicus. Andy's sells both the Bulbo and the Gastro somai.

Does anyone know of a vendor that sells the gastro that's not mounted? Upstate NY is super dry and i'm having issues with mounted plants....

I'm having the same issue here in SoCal. I grow all my orchids on the balcony, and have to mist them 5-6 times a day already (it's not even May!), the potted ones (!) to keep the surface not bone dry. I'm thinking of putting my new baby in a wide vase or a small aquarium to keep humidity around it higher. And if anyone here has any suggestions how to solve this problem, please share!
