It was another growth!

But I have high hopes that it'll bloom this year, the newest bulbs are the biggest one yet. Big healthy plant should = some blooms.

It's not an overly difficult orchid, I think it just needs higher light than I can give it here. There's pretty much zero sun between nomber and march,, just clouds and rain.

I just got it out of bloom.... It's a decent size and had lots of new growths...
I'm hoping for a flower lol...
Lots of light? That's definitely something our Southern California sun can provide...
It's a bit cold right now so it's inside..
Should I shove it against my south facing window?
That's full sun all day.

No, no, nowhere near that much!! Orchidwiz puts the light requirments in the range of 1500-2000fc. It needs bright light, but certainly not full sun all day.

I didn't say that it needed very high light, but just higher than what it currently gets. And what it currently gets is close to nothing!

I'm not actually sure how to measure foot candles....
I'm sure there's a meter for it..
Right now it's about... at oncidium lighting... maybe dendrobium.
I think I'll try and bring it to the threshold of its light tolerance... It's got so many growths one of these might flower!

Mine had full sun over the summer last year... but then we had a horrid wet summer so in places with nicer weather it's likely not a good idea.

I can't get flowers yet, but it's growing really well.

Rosie, I just read your posts for all the project plants (Den, Milt, this one) and it seems that project plant are not your thing! "They grow well, but don't bloom" I have to say it's not much better for me. Either I killed the plant, or it grows well and doesn't bloom. In fact, I can't think of a single project plant that I have grown and bloomed successfully. Well, there was the Gastro, but I killed that one. And replaced it! Maybe it's time for me to call it quits with these projects...

The only one that blooms for me is the Gastro and I didn't even buy that as a project plant!

No I don't seem to have had much luck with flowering them either

I was reading online somewhere from this one guy that had a specimen sized plant that bloomed like a madman.
He kept his in full sun all day and watered two to three times a day.
