Rhynchostylis coelestis (Project 10 Warm - Spring 2010)

Karen, that is a very nice plant. Great roots, but kind of stiff, right? How would that work with s/h? I have always been curious about that.

I wasn't arround on OB much when the projects started up (too much work, not enough time) but I'm sort of wondering about joining in if I can get hold of the plants without too much trouble.

I got my Rhynchostylis coelestis on monday here it is it has some very thick roots!

Susan, I don't think I would put those roots into the PA as they are aerial roots and as you say very stiff. I'd only put the buried roots in.

Hi, Rosie, I bought mine from Nardotto and Capello Azienda Agricola Nardotto e Capello who are Italian, partly because I've dealt with them before and partly because the German site that some of the others have used to get the proper plant, R coelestis, didn't like my browser and I don't like Internet Explorer (mutter, mutter!!) The Italian R c was not flowering size, whereas this is supposed to be. But be warned, postage and packing was 22 Euros, so it is well worth looking for "Travelling Companions", as that amount will cover up to 5 or 6 plants if I understood the site correctly.......I sneaked in another Paphioledilum !

Nice plant Heather! and I like your "set up" for it!
I have an ang.didieri from them and it too is in bark in a basket like yours, I put mine in a bottle and it 's put out roots and leaves since I got it in august ..so I think your vase set up is a very good idea!

Thanks, Nenella! I wasn't sure what to do with it, I have been reading the thread Vandas in S/H Vandas in semi-hydro? and decided this would be a good compromise, I hope the "vase" will survive - they sell them as candle holders here, but they are perfect because they are so even shaped and wide. I would have had a clear sided one but for some reason that was more expensive than the crackle glass!
