How cool! Congratulations!

Great picture of the spike, really helps me know what to look for. It seems the spike coms from closer to the p-bulb than the growths, or so it seems comparing your 1st pic and my new growths.

On that basis I don't think I have any spikes, great to see your sucess though

Congratulations Dave it's beautiful!
Thank you for posting that picture, it helps me too.

I think mine still hates me, I've even got a new growth growing down into the leca....how is that for lack of cooperation!

Congrats Dave! Thanks for posting the picture, it's nice to know where the spike will come from. My guy is growing like crazy but no spikes yet.......

The color of the flower is even more beautiful then I imagined! I cant wait for mine to bloom!

Actually, looking at mine again I do have one which could be either.

Dave, did this develop at about the same speed as a growth?

Rosie I really didn't pay that close attention. It could have developed after. What threw me was the growth had the same characteristic's as the spike. They just grow in a different part of the plant. The spike grows between the leaf and P-bulb and the growth grows below the P-bulb.

Thank Daves. I have realised that I have a growth right next to a p-bulb. It's been slowly growing for several months though now exactly the same speed as the new growths are developing.

Well, we shall see... I will keep an eye on it

Summer is about half over and I am pretty sure I am not going to get any blooms. Apparently I am not giving this guy what he needs. How is everyone growing them?

No blooms here either.

Mine is in quite bright sun, it's about as yellow as the ones bought from Andy's when they first arived. Seems happy and there are LOADS of new leads, half grown leads, forming p-bulds and new roots growing.

Mine is mounted and in quite a breezy spot outside so dries quite quickly. I dunk it in a bucket of water every morning and spray heavily lunchtime if I'm at home (probably only weekends). It seems well hydrated in the p-bulbs.

I fertilise just once a week, maybe I should be giving it more, not sure.

Mine is in whatever temps we get outside which I think is arround 20C - 25C day, not sure at night.

I've got mine in s/h, one with East sun and one with South sun. They both look the same as far as light green color. I also have a lot of new growths but no indication of spikes in the near future. Well, maybe next year something good will happen! LOL
