Just got mine today from Oak Hill Gardens. How many years will this project go on?

Cabbo, I thought I would mount mine because of humidity issues. I can't get over 40% RH in my growing area. I figured if I has some moss on the mount, the little guy would be happier.

If you have low humidity, wouldn't it be better to keep it potted? It wouldn't dry out quite so fast. The one I have already is mounted, and even at 50-60% humidity I have to mist 2 (even 3) times a day to keep it from being bone dry. Haraellas hate going dry.

I agree with Camille on this one. Definitely better to keep it potted if you're worried about humidity.

I wasn't thinking about it in that way. There's no way I can mist it during the day.( I could take it to work, like Camille takes hers on vacation) I was thinking if I had the roots growing into the spagnam or sheet moss, that would keep them from drying out and the natural evaporation would add a bit of humidity to the leaves.
I could put it under a glass bowl, but then it wouldn't get any air flow.
I wonder what's the prize for the first fatality to a project plant ??

What I do when I go away for the weekend or if the humidity is really low for a few days is cut the top off a pop bottle. Then I put it over the plant and leave the lid off the bottle so it gets a bit of fresh air too. It doesn't dry out quite so fast that way.
Normally the one I'm getting for the project will be mounted, but I think I might pot it up so I can compare it with the mounted one and see which does better.

We now have a gallery album set up for this project...

http://www.orchidboard.com/community...s.php?cat=1325

All project plant photos should be uploaded to that project album.

Aileen, I moved the photo you had in your personal gallery to the new project gallery

It will be cool later on to look back at the we've taken upon arrival

Thanks Marty
