Someone please please please tell me that it's normal for the bud AND pedoncule to turn yellow at the stage of development the bud is at! Camera batteries are dead so I can't post a pic, but the bud in question is a few posts above.

I don't like the yellowing pedoncule at all, I hope it's not blasting.

Well my Hrl. retrocalla finally bloomed.
Flower open for 2 days now.
and spike and bud forming.

Did your plant develop a spike after you received it?

Well, the question answered itself, the bud fell off this morning, partially opened.

This is so unfair!!! And the other bud (much smaller) is starting to look odd as well. And seeing my track record with Haraellas, I probably won't see blooms anywhere in the near future, if the plant even survives.

I'm sorry to hear Camille. An hour ago I made a picture from my bud (not *my but

) for comparisson.

I'll upload it anyway... if you click it, you see the largest possible view from the bud and pendicule.
I hoped yours seemed yellow-ish in the picture because of over-exposure, because mine seems yellow-ish than too...

Here's what my little guy looked like this morning, and it looks like there is 2 more growths starting, does this plant grow into a large multi growth specimen I don't mean large in size you know what I mean. Sorry to hear about yours Camille....... Jim.

Hi Camille - I do feel sorry that you lost the bud you had growing but at least you had a bud. Mine is in a holding pattern.....no spike, no bud, no new leaves, just hanging out with my other Neos. I really am happy for those who have developed flowers but wonder if mine is "sterile" LOL!!

Hi Camille, I'm really sorry that you lost your bud.
I have no 'experience' in these (I got mine for the progect) & I cannot fault mine at the moment as going through the normal flowering process ; It seems to me as If Harraellas open a flower @ a time on each spike, whilst buds develop (no idea how many flowers is the norm per spike?)
Based on my very little experience with these I would be inclined to think that maybe you got too much light/sun on the bud and it blasted ??? Or maybe it is a lack of humidity issue?
Mine are flourishing in the following conditions; mounted on bark. Watered (soaked - for 10 mins) a day. If Temps in am are above 20°C ..ish I admit I don't really know as in a hurry to get to work...
I very quickly dip them for a few seconds & put back in their 'bottle' & close the lid.
At night/ evening they get their longer soaking and I open the window for a few hours hanging them back in the bottle but with the top off....
I hope this helps figure out how to avoid losing your next bud ...as I can see some more on your pic.

Jim Congrats! & I have to say I like your Haraellas 'face'

- regarding the large multi growth specimen.. Very good question ...I don't know...but I hope so! One of mine has a spike with 2 leaves on It & I was secretly hoping that this meant it would be a keikie?.....We will see ...unless someone out there already knows?

Mine are also in the same grow area as my neofinetia & my ascofinetia too.

It takes them about 3 days to open completely...
