My first bloom dropped off this morning...was in bloom for a total of 15 days! Very cool. Two more spikes coming along nicely! (Sorry again for photo quality...still having to rely on my laptop's iSight camera.)

I want to show you something. I discussed this with Camille and I understood that what my Haraella is doing right now is a little bit crazy. Yesterday I could identify it's 9th spike. When I got it (I think it was May 19th) it had 4 or 5 spikes growing. It put out some new growths which I couldn't identify at first, but now it's very clear to me most of them are spikes.
Currently is has 9 spikes, from which 3 of them are still very small, these showed up last week allong with a new root. Except for spike number 2, 4 and 7, all show the beginning of buds. Spike number 9 even grows a second bud while the first one on that spike stil has to open (it's working on it).

I tried to make a picture, showing all spikes, but with such a tiny plant it's hard to get them all in focus. It might be easier when the newest spikes grow a bit longer.

I numbered the spikes (red) and the 2 new roots (yellow) because some might be hard to identify in this picture. The spikes are all pointy and the roots emerge with a round tip.

No way I can take credit for all these spikes, but I thought it would be interesting to show this over active plant... Oh and I forgot to mention it's working a new leaf too...

These are such fun plants! Wouldn't it be great as both spikes bloom at the same time!

Maybe the greenhouse you purchased it from is located near a nuclear reactor? That's crazy!!

That is hilareous, steroidsea I think I'm going to watch it during the nights with a webcam, maybe my cats are fertilizing it during the nights ;-) or... gnomes do excist

About the bud that started to open 1 1/2 day ago. It goes slowly, very slowly. We had no sun the past days, today we have and combined with high humidity I can see more progress now. I wondered if the petals are "glued" so that is why I give it very hight humidity now, but maybe it's also a normal for Haraella's to teas us that long
Current temp must be 28C / 82.4F and humidity 85%

Lightbulb Suggestion for thread with pictures only

Over the past week I've seen several pictures from our Haraella's. I noticed that each flower has different markings. I also wondered how many people eventually bought an Haraella.

I thougt it would be great to have a thread with pictures from blooms only, to see the different markings.

Another option is that someone (I want to do that if you allow me) gathers all pictures from the blooms and put them together in one subject (with names from the owners of the plant) for a quick overview.

What do you think?

Wow Nicole what a surprise. You are lucky to have gotten such a "super" Haraella. My "little" Retro Gal is just hanging out with 1 "little" spike and enjoying the view. I'm giving her another dose of seaweed juice today and hope that it give her a boost. Can't wait to see yours in bloom.
