Yeah, I saw that and that inspired me! If you can do it, so can I

I'm thinking CF light banks in the ceiling, lots of fans, forced-air heat for winter (don't need much) and lots of fans for summer (oh, yeah said that!) Would carry water from nearby sink and run misters from buckets. Concrete floor and block walls. Water-resistant drywall on walls and ceiling. Don't hink I need special environmental controls such as heaters, etc. since the room is part of the normal basement.

I think I feel honored... *grin*

For sheer convenience, a big garbage can (I use a 45G) with a sump pump in it can't be beat for watering. I mix my fertilizer up in it and just water away. I'd lose my mind if I had to go to the sink and back a hundred times.

Even a basement can be a bit on the dry side, especially with a lot of lights. So an appropriately sized humdifier (ultrasonic is good) is a good investment.

I doubt you would need any heat... Unless your basement is a whole lot colder than mine. The lights alone will give you a daytime boost, and the night drop is good for blooming.

Brassia verrucosa would be okay for me
All suggestions will be discussed starting in January, but I like this one.

Nice room, Rob

No, my basement seldom goes below 60 F in winter (right now is 68 with no extra heat.) In summer it has gotten abobe 80 on occasion but I have that pretty well figured out (open windows at night and run fans.) I like the garbage can idea. I have to have a way to fill it though and the only non-softened water spigot is either outside (bad in winter) or at other end of basement. Don't mind (right now) 5 gal pails, but that might get old with more plants.
