I had a look at the google custom search earlier for den tetragonum and I was struggling to find the right one I was a bit confused about the sizes but most of the results came up with den tetragonum var gigantea or den tetragonum var tetragonum, one did have it but was not flowering size was something like T1-2 ( cant remember first letter and I am unsure what that means, I think we need camille or kavanaru to point me in the right direction as I am a bit lost, I just thought is have a nosey at where it was available in europe. I would love us to be able tog et that one as it was my fav but if not I am happy with whatever gets chosen its all a learning curve for me

Schwerter has it for ca. 13€ They have very good quality and they also deliver to UK! They var. gigantea, which has the largest flowers but is not the largest plant!

so it is ok to get the var gigantea? surely it is not the same plant as others would be getting if they got the standard one ( not var) sorry dont know how to explain myself. I would have thought we would have to all get the var one or the standard one. ( I really dont know if it makes a difference just assuming its a slightly different plant.)

the question is: which is the "Standard" variety? there are 4 different varieties, and for what I have seen, all of them could be considered as "standard" if you check teh availability of them (actually, gigantea is found easier, due to the very large flowers)

Default For the European Members...

For Dendrobium tetragonum

These are all nurseries I would highly recommend:

Orchideen - Currlin Orchideen - Species und Hybriden aus eigener Zucht und Kultur!!! has var. tetragonum for 15€
home has var. hayesianum (I think this is the same as var. cacatua!) for 8€ (however, 1 year to blooming size!)
Schwerter Orchideenzucht - Orchideen und Orchideenzubehör - Online-Shop has var. gigantea for 13€
Orchideen Kopf Shop has var. tetragonum for 23€
★ Orchideenshop Luzerner Garten ★ has var. gigantea for 28 CHF (they only send within Switzerland!)

now that I see the post, I need to add I would recommend them in the inverse order.... first Luzerner, then Kopf, and so on...

wow...I just got home and read the posts from today. $65.00 seems a lot, how much on average does the project plants cost?
