Default Challenge

You are right Todd, it will be a challenge to find the plant here in Mexico but I have several contacts with laboratories that sell plants, and other one with a nurcery in Paraguay, I can't find the Cttya perrini yet but I'm going to keep looking.
If you go to orchid mall there is a link to 2 nurcerys in Mexico, Tahi mostly Phals (they don't have species) and Rancho la Joya, unfortunately they don't have pictures.
Muchos saludos
Juan

Hi there. Laelia. I love it. Check out Clouds' listings, they do have some smaller types such as, L. briegeri, Pot., Lc. and Slc. Here's a link: Cattleya Alliance Species and Hybrids(updated on November 2, 2006)

Hopefully this is helpful.

Hi Heli,

Brassia caudata is a hot to warm grower...I don't think it would be good for many of our members in chillier areas

Keep the suggestions coming

Default OrchidBoard Project #3 Has Begun!!!

These are the ones I prefer of the ones offered:

Phal corningiana
Phal cochlearis
ACACALLIS cyanea
ORNITHOCHILUS fuscus
GALEOTTIA grandiflora

I will go along with the rest of the group, but thought I would express my druthers.

Here are my picks from Clouds....

Bc Maikai 'Louise' AM/AOS
C Fort Motte 'Leopard'
Laelia breigeri (rupiculous)
Laelia purpurata (any variety)
Actually I would be okay with ANY smaller/medium growing Laelia.

I can't do cool as i don't have the facilities for it anymore.

I like this list from Juan's vendor:
Orquidario Oro Verde- Especies de Orquídeas para la venta

I'm also all for a Sophronitis, so long as its not S. cernua. I already have that one.

Here are a few from Paramount that caught my eye...

Angraecum didieri
Cirropetalum lepidum
Laelia crispa
Laelia perrinii
Laelia pumilla
Laelia tenebrosa
Paraphalaenopsis labukensis
Pleurothallis tribuloides

I'm off to look at Orchids in Our Tropics next.

PS....I'm trying to stay away from Paphs as that is what I specialize in growing. It would be interesting to try something else.
