Hello to all! I,m a newer member from buffalo ny! Hey this seems like a great idea, im down! how about a epidendrum porpax. it,s quite common and can grow at different culture requirements!
If not i,ll go along with any orchid, As long as it,s small growth habit will fit im my mini greenhhouses in my living room.

Hi Clay,

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add them to the vendor list and I'm adding you to the participant list.
I need to know where you are located

I've moved your entry about joining us to this forum so it doesn't get lost in the older project's thread.
Glad to have you with us!

Hello, Clay here, As far as a new vendor how about marlows orchids. But I do favor oak hill cause of their healthy plants. I live near buffalo NY. I,ll go along with whatever is picked. It really should be a mini cause of my limited growing space! Plus im a species nut, propragate the species, heck with the hybrids!

Clay, you'll be involved in whatever choice is made. We used Oak Hill Gardens as the vendor in Project #2 and we were all thrilled with the plants we got! Their merchandise is wonderful! Lots of people here have space issues, so we don't usually discuss anything that has the potential to become huge. Both of our previous projects resulted in a species plant. I tend to veer towards species too, but I wouldn't be opposed to a nice hybrid We'll whittle it down to a manageable list, then set up a poll...the plant that gets the most votes at the end is our project plant!!!

It'll be fun, you'll enjoy the process

Great, Lin!
I'm adding you to the list...I don't need any further info

I have the frist "chat" scheduled for Sun 1/14 at 8pm. This will be the first of many so if somebody can't make that one, it's okay...just try to stop in after that and get your ideas into the discussion

Remember:

1 - Intermediate

2 - Nothing too large, many members are dealing with space issues

3 - Our first two projects were geared towards a species plant...we should broaden our horizons and think about some of the wonderful hybrids out there

4 - We will also be trying to pick a plant that our non-USA members have an opportunity to get in their home countries.

5 - In the past, one of the "rules" (for lack of a better word) was that the plant chosen had to be one that none of the participants already had. That becomes the biggest hinderance, so I am thinking that we should try to aim for that goal but not eliminate any plant for that reason.

How do the rest of you feel about that?

I'm looking forward to getting this started...my list is already in the double-digits! I suggest you put together a large list of "wants" because many get elimiinated, for one reason or another and you'll want to have back-up choices.

What I do is create a folder in my Favorites and keep links to the plants I'll be suggesting in that folder. When we're having our discussions, it's easy to cut and paste a link to the page so the others have easy access to it.

Once we start, I'll be running a closed thread tracking which plants are being discussed.

See you all there!
