Terri, that plant is just beautiful! Mine bloomed just one spike one time. I think it needs the cool air. I grow it in the house and that is not ideal. You have done a beautiful job on that one!

Terri that is a great close-up picture!
Mine is just finishing it's second round of blooming on two spikes! I grow mine in intermediate temps, high light, and right under the misters. The day time temps are in the low 70's and night temps somewhere in the mid to low 60's right now.

Yvan I love how your spikes are close together, it makes a great presentation for the blooms! Mine are usually spread out. I just noticed today that I have a new spike starting on mine. This one just won't stop! It's such a cutie!

That's fascinating, Becca. I noticed that Terri's spikes too seemed to be more spaced out. But both this time and last time mine bloomed, the flowers were very bunched together. No idea why that'd be.

Becca I think you're right. Mine is inbetween 2 T5s so I would imagine the spike would grow towards the one closest to them.
Yvan, yours is so striking looking with the spikes grouped together like that. Very nice presentation.  |

Ahh, yes! Of course. The CFL bulb which is my main light source hangs more directly *in front* of this 'chid instead of above it. So the spikes do grow out in front of the plant instead of up. Still, Terri—6 spikes?!? Whatever you're doing this 'chid must especially love.

I have my lights spaced out as well. I have other 'chids that seem to have spikes & blooms that reach for the light as they develop as well.

Mine grew 3 new leaves over the winter, and is now pushing out 3 new spikes. Pretty crazy little plant!
