Sure, Sandy...Although, since we just recently started the project (only got the plants in I think Sept.) I can't take any credit for these blooms.

It's mounted on a stick with not too much sphagnum. It's about 12 in. from a 100 watt CFL. I water it every morning, and usually mist it again in the afternoon. Just tap water, tho we have really good tap water here in the NYC area. Depending on time of day, humidity runs an average of 60% – 75%. Temp ranges from 80ish daytime, 65ish at night.

The color in my photo doesn't do the 'chid justice. The orange is really deep and intense.

Yes, I know, NY has the best tasting and cleanest water in the U.S. I miss the days when I could take a drink of water straight from the tap. Ex Queens girl here, Yvan!

Thanks for providing the cultural info! I'm growing mine out on a screened patio in sphag/tree fern fiber/perlite and finding that I'm watering more than I anticipated it would need. These stinkers are very thirsty!

NY in da house!

Yeah, this group of genera do like it wet. With most of my orchids, I'm always convincing myself to hold off and NOT water if I'm ever questioning. But with these guys, I err on the side of watering more.

Nice!!!!! It's every bit as cool as I imagined it would be. I love it! I hope mine is as pretty as yours. So far no sign of a spike, but it is growing new roots. Too bad it's a stinker! I'll remember not to get too close!

Very cool plant! Very very cool! You guys finally picked a Bulbo type and I wasnt in the project
Now as far as water quality. I agree, NYC has some good water, but, its not the best. The best, cleanest, greatest tasting water I have ever had came from the tap of a friend house who lives in the Smokey Mountains (Pisgah National Forest).

Gee Terri. Go ahead and breathe deep. Fish oil scent could be good for you.
