I'd love to see us do 3 temperature ranges, cool, intermediate, and warm. That might mean 3 different vendors, or 1. Just depends on their inventory I guess. We could choose a temp range that suits our location, and anything goes from there. Are we limiting ourselves to species only this time or could hybrids be part of the mix too?

Oh, BTW, I'm in just in case you were wondering!

To keep things simpler, I think it is probably better to have an intermediate grower for the mystery project. We already have a list of those (the near runner's up in previous project polls) that we can work with.

That said, I also think the idea of a Warm/Cool project is a great idea. That one will take some research - the seriously fun part of OB projects - to get a list of possibilities in each category.

I think there is enough to do just coordinating the Mystery Project without researching Warm and Cool growers to short list.

So, two more projects?? The Mystery Project and a Warm/Cool Project that is run like 'normal'...

One or two projects I'm up for it. I just want to be part of the learning experience as a group and have an excuse to get more chids....LOL

I'm well rested now so...

let's do THREE projects!!!

Hot/Warm, Intermediate, Cool would be the breakdown...imagine the plants we'll find along the way!

We would stick to our usual size criteria.

Anybody who wants to be specific to their region can choose to vote in just that poll...while others might enter two of the projects...one for their region and an intermediate

This one will be a bit of work but after having our Sederia japonica project turn into a multi-layered event...and our circle of friends getting it accomplished...we can do anything!!!

I say we bounce around our ideas for another week or so and then we'll get down to business. With the work involved, this might very well become our last project before winter...

Sue that sounds AWESOME !!! I'm in for at least the warm and the intermediate ones. My family room is kept around 65 so I believe I can be able to grow intermediate growers in there and they get plenty of sunlight from all the windows in the room.

I feel bad now! being the squeaky wheel and causing more work then necessary. No need to have a second or third project because of me. I was just thinking that it could be 1 project with different plants. Since most OB'er are cool weather grower they could receive the same plant but us hot grower could get a different one. Since its a mystery plant we could leave it up to the vendor. Even if you choose plants from the passed projects and narrow it down you still have a good idea what it might be. I realize that some may already have it but thats the only way to truly be a mystery. PLEASE don't make it harder then it needs to be for me.

If the criteria is a miniature species intermediated the vendor can send out one that matches that criteria and same for warm and cold growers. And they all could be a mystery and no one needs sit out.
A list of the three plants could be sent to Sue in seperate sealed envelopes (with her plant) with the name for each group. First one to get theres to bloom Sue can then open it see for sure. 1 project 3 plants 3 winners. No polls No voting a true mystery

Say Andy's is willing to do this. They could have all three types, so when you order it you tell them which type you want or all three (if you are a gluttin for punishment).

You really are rested...and full of energy...look at all of those energetic emoticons!

I'm game...I like the idea of getting involved with more than one element of the project. It would be fun and challenging to try and grow something that I'm not used to in my area.

Don't worry Dave...it doesn't take much to get us started, you know that!

I'm kind of excited about it

A major part of what I love about the projects is the great time we have here for the weeks prior to actually voting on anything!

Getting the plant and growing it is important but it's not the part I love the most. Just having a vendor choose a plant to send us and then waiting for something to happen takes away all of the fun we have here leading up to the polls

Sue I still think that the idea of having you choose different plants in each of the 3 categories and then doing a vote for each of them to see who would win in each category would be the best. Then you would contact the vendor or vendors and tell them which are the plants that we can order in the different categories and we'll decide if we want to go for 1, 2 or the 3 of them. That sounds like a big challenge but can be done.
