I was planning to mount mine so you've convinced me I probably should just do it now.

hey all, i hope you don’t mind another joiner

i just found this sub and so this seemed like a fun thing to do. plus, we haven’t gotten any new orchids in a little bit

also, may have cheated a bit and i just ordered 2 of them from popow. the first time we’ve gotten plants from them so another first. and also, i have been wanting to get a couple plants of a species so i can do some culture comparisons, and so we bought another fdk black pearl for me!

being a holiday today i don’t expect the box until late next week. we’ll be sure to post pix when we get them!

Welcome to the project!! I guess Popow got some more plants in. I wanted to buy one there, but when I went to put it in my basket I got a message that it was out of stock... I've curious to see how your plants are! And then I might order a second plant there.

Attached are some photos. I said that there was only 1 brand new root, but it's actually 3! I finally got around to repotting it yesterday, and could inspect it better. The new leaf has also grown some since getting it.

My experience with Kelpak in the almost year I've been using it has generally been really positive. Sometimes the effects aren't very strong, but other times I see a mind boggling number of new roots.

I follow the instructions given here on Orchidboard. 4ml/liter water, applied once per month (every 4-6 weeks in my case, as I sometimes forget). All new plants also get a kelpak treatment when they arrive, and they seen to recover faster with it.

Here's mine ssp. deliciosa; the new leaf is growing quite nicely!

The ssp. hookeriana developed a case of leaf rot and I think it may have spread to the crown; we'll see...

ah, so there were out of them recently then, eh? hmmm, hopefully that doesn’t mean we r destined for tiny seedlings and 2 years before we see a flower! hahaha, we have enough of those already. but either way, ill post up some pics and descriptions when they come in...

hey... NOD! (new orchid day)

well, what can i say? we got our box today, i think it tied the record with schwerter on speed of delivery. less than 3 working days and i ordered on a holiday. so, yeah, that’s great.

this isn’t meant to be a review of popow, as it’s only our first order from them and this isn’t the forum. but ill let you judge from the pics. and of course i will thusly provide my own opinion to follow

currently soaking and now giving thought to what to do with them. prolly shoulda done that for real before right now, but oh well.

edit to add that i voluntarily take us out of the running of first bloom for any pride or growership sake since we actually got one with spikes! ha, assuming we can get at least one flower from them
