Default 2021 orchid growing project - voting! (PARTICIPANTS ONLY, PLEASE)

It's time for voting! After paring down our list of options based on growing requirements and number of vendors/plants available, we have our final selection!

As a reminder, PLEASE VOTE ONLY IF YOU PLAN ON PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROJECT. Usually participants can vote for their TOP 3; this makes it easier to see what the favorites are if there's no clear front runner. Thanks so much, everyone!

Certainly looks like it! We'll just wait for the remaining project members to vote. I think I may have set the poll to close next Monday, but we were originally aiming for the weekend, so we'll see.

I won’t vote because there is a huge IF on whether I can get the plant here, but will go to all the flower shops on Saturday and ask if they can bring it for me. Wish me luck! They all look very interesting.

I don't know what the others think, but I have absolutely no issues with you voting! Good luck trying to locate a plant! It's not very clear from your profile, are you in Romania as your profile flag suggests, or in the Cayman Islands?

In the list of members in the sign-up thread, I am putting members in green if they have voted; looks like Keysguy has yet to vote.

I have also added members to the list who voted but who I don't recall seeing chime in on the sign-up thread.

Hey everyone, I've made the official project thread for our winning plant, Phalaenopsis deliciosa! All of our updates/chatting/discussion will happen there.

Because the Aerangis punctata came so close in second place, we can definitely run a parallel project thread as well for anyone who might be interested in growing that one!

Thank you! I was born in Romania but living in Cayman for quite a few years. Romania would have been easier as there are many EU sellers that would ship there, but then again, Ro has snow, so.... Cayman has blessedly no snow but it does have a lot of import rules. There are few shops that bring orchids and I have spoken to all of them. One does not bring any “fancy” ones, one is having issues with the imports and expects the next order will be placed in about 2 months and one says they are checking for me and if their suppliers have it they will bring it for me. Fingers crossed. I also asked the agriculture department and if I order it by myself I need an import permit plus the usual cites and phytosanitary certificate, but it cannot be done from any country. Just a few. And they need them sprayed with some stuff. Sigh! They were really nice though If my last hope does not work out I might just go for that option and order some more on the side just to make the effort worth it. It’ll be my birthday present But let’s see.
