When I see something I've never read about I start with the Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia

Yes, I went there first. I like that site technically but, practically you all are much better.

Nothing in Baker and Baker, FYI.
Yes, I poked around quite a bit to research it. From what I read, it should be easy to grow in my conditions. I just wondered if you all had tried it and also, I notice many of the pictures are different. It actually looks like a upside down string mop with an orange center...and much nicer smell. Wintergirl is going back to check for me today too be sure I am naming it correctly.

Maxillaria buchtienii is the name but Maxillaria buchtenii was what was on the tag, it was misspelled. There were 2 at the show. Here is the tag.

Somebody at the orchid society that put on the show will probably know whose plant that is, and they may be willing to put you in touch with that person.

You know that Andy's has had these. He may still have some. He only puts plants on web page if he has 25 or more. I would call him and see if he can send you one. I bet he has some. Andy's Orchids - Orchid Species - Welcome Orchids - Species Specialist - Orchids on a stick

I will. I saw that he was sold out on his site. Thanks for the tip! Now that you say it, it does ring a bell.
