I love Zygos, but they haven't loved me. They're tied with the rupicolous laelias for genus I've had the most trouble with.

Gorgeous, gorgeous blooms on your Adelaide Meadows cross.

Btw, where do you find your Zygos? I haven't found too many sources besides ebay and Porters Orchids. And Australia, of course, but I don't get out that way too often

My apologies for not replying sooner.

I became obsessed with finding more and different Zygos last year so I made it a point to search high and low for them. I only just bought one of Porter's, it's a cross between Pabstia Jugosa and a Zygo, will get a pic up soon hopefully as it was in bloom at a recent show. But I have found quite a few through Seattle Orchids, I also asked them about getting some. However most of mine I've located through eBay constantly typing in Zygopetalum, Zygonisia, Zygoneria, Zygolum...misspell names sometimes it helps like Zygonesia, Pescatorea or Pescatoria... There's not a lot of different ones out there on a regular basis so you have to keep your eyes peeled. I can give you the usernames of some of the sellers I follow on ebay, one gets imports through Ecuagenera regularly. I've remade a registered cross with two pods now at four months, we'll see what happens.

I don't know that they 'require' the temp drop like some Phals, Cyms, and Dends but I do think that many of them prefer the cooler temps. My Zygolum blooms 2-3 times a year while this plant has so far only bloomed once a year for me. Meanwhile I have Bollopetalum (now Pescatorea I've read?) Midnight Blue 'Cardinal's Roost', a really common find on ebay btw, that I got this summer in bloom and its in bud again right now. This latter point is a bit worrisome b/c the buds are looking strange to me, rather droopy and I wonder if I'm going to lose them... Anywho, sorry I can't answer definitively if they 'need' the temp drop. Good luck!
