Default Bifrenaria inodora (small)

This is smaller than the one I posted before(http://www.orchidboard.com/community...-inodora.html). The color is also more pale. I bought it with the former label, Bifrenaria fuestenbergiana, today all these guys are "inodora"

Hi Gloria!
Yes, the "inodoras" are scented! The name was given (maybe) for comparison with harrisoniae and/or thyrianthina, that have a stronger fragrance. My first inodora is in buds and it has a more stroger purple in the lip, I'll post the pics soon!

Frederico, I like the clear green Bif. inodora contrasting with the lavender lip! Very nice one!
As to the name, I guess the taxonomist, when was describing Bifrenaria inodora (without odor), had went down with flu... LOL!!

Those flowers are beautiful, especially the fuzzy lip.

Gloria,
Thanks for looking my gallery! Bifr thyrianthina has a strong fragrance, but tetragona....well, it's not smelly, but has a 'metallic' scent, mixed with 'garlic' or something....not exactly perfumed!

Frederico, I'm interested to know your source. I bought fuerstenbergiana from Alvim Seidel. How about you? It's always good to know reliable sources of good plants!

Hi Stitz!
This one came from Seidel, I think they are the only vendors in the world that still use the name "fuestenbergiana" for the inodoras
Donato Seidel is a very kind person, you can mail him and talk about his orchids, but he is for sure an 'old fashioned' man! (I don't know whether this term is correct english!)
The plants I bought from him are big and healthy, but sometimes with wrong label (for exemple, I bought a Bifrenaria racemosa that bloomed Bifrenaria clavigera; for me its OK 'cause I can consult my botanists friends, and I had not a clavigera - now, I don't have a racemosa! ). Nevertheless I recommend Alvim Seidel
