Flexdc, I should try out your method of warming them up in the winters to see if that'll get my supremely stubborn Max. tenuifolia to bloom.
But in regards to what everyone has said about it being a water hog and a plant that can survive being tossed to the elements. Yeah, I agree on both counts. 
Side note: Just as a kind of an amusing question for me...
If I were to one day be on the lot of Paramount Studios, is there a chance we'd run into each other by happenstance and not know it...?

Philip, the first time this plant rebloomed was when I gave it more warmth in the winter. MIN around 60F.
I don't know if you were referring to me in your paramount comment, but I don't work there.

Really interesting.
How much light is lots of light? Not that it makes much difference with the wet summer we are having, but I'm wondering if I should move mine out with the Milt. spectabilis , which could get full sun on a nice day, or leave it in my greenhouse where it gets light all day but indirect.
Andrew, yours does look more yellow than mine which is probably the high light. Hmm...

Mine's in pretty high light for quite a few hours and not turning yellowish. so I think it can take a lot.

Good luck with that. Mine should be getting full sun from mid morning to late afternoon, but the spring-early summer have been horrendous. Only a few hours of sun per day, at best... The side of the plant facing the window is a tiny bit yellow, but not much.

I know Camille, same here. However the Milt spectabilis HAS turned more yellow in my garden even though the weather has been so dull. It's in a spot that get's direct sun (on a sunny day) from around mid-day, the longest we have in our garden. It might not be very sunny, but it's still getting more than they get over the winter in the house.

LOL, hubby just said that it's not the sun turning the Milt yellow, but the rain is washing all the chlorophyll away that's making it go yellow.  It's wet enough for that! |

I do have 2 Oncs getting yellow in the windowsill, and they only get 3-4 of morning sun, when it's there. But the Catts are still dark green.

The weather over here has also been 'worse' than in the past 5 years I have lived here.. less sun /colder,
although better than the UK or Netherlands in general ?  I believe?
Anyway my Milt spectabilis has gone yellower & I have upped the light on the Max tenufolia too......  s: |
