Default Bifrenaria wittgii

Happy 2012 to everyone!

After a large period without posting pictures (due to serious personal problems), I'm showing my New Year's fellows.
Bifrenaria wittgii belongs to the section Cydoniorchis within the genre, with Bifr tetragona. This plant came from seed and flowered quite young (I have other seedlings of the same seed pod). The flowers are different from the Bifr tetragona, with the column shorter than the hairy lip, which has two "wings" aside; the buds are quite different (look at Bifr tetratgona bud pic). The smell, however, is the same for the human nose: a mixture of metal, garlic and dead rat!

Glad to see you back, Frederico, and sorry to hear you've been through some troubled times...

Beautiful plant! I really like this genus, though I've not yet tried to grow any. You had me sold on this one until you described the odor!
