Default Maxillaria rufescens

Hi

My first blooming Maxillaria !

I didn't like Max. very much, but now it seems that they are "growing on me"

This one seems pretty easy, the difficult part is not to eat it ! Because it has a very strong vanilla fragrance.

moderate light, frequent watering, humid conditions, small pot with good drainage and bark mix

Cool, Tricho!
That's a cutie...and it smells like vanilla! A bonus!!!

The only Max I have is tenuifolia which smells of coconut...heavenly

I see you have it in moderate light which is a bit different than mine. I moved this one around A LOT before finding that it really loves the full sun around the pool area, which means it's in really bright direct sun all day with about 20% shading from the screenroom.

Wow! Beautiful flower.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Hi Suzanne

I also have tenuifolia, but it still is a small plant. It would be great to have the two open simultaneously!

Good info, i will take note.

it looks yummy too. I would not be able to resist eating this one if I had one.
