Oh! No, it didn't have any other name on the tag when I purchased it. I got it from an orchid greenhouse here in Maine called Woodsprites. Awesome place, but the owner doesn't ship that I know of.
By the way, I have my own personal name for this one, and it's Pia. Short for Pain In A--! (Sorry all ). I do love this plant, but it has rather large leaves and it seems to get in the way when I'm trying to get to my other plants. I think it resents me ignoring it all winter long and tries to get my attention. So I call it Pia, but lovingly.

Thanks Kiki-do! I just got a small division today.

I do need to ask then, the spring/summer care for this plant will require more fertilizing and water from what you have said regarding the winter regime. Or do you just normally fertilize every watering - weakly weakly method?

Appreciate your input. Makes me feel confident to grow this plant - and certainly look forward to its blooming one day!

This is one of those plants that gets ignored a lot and thrives. I have it in a bark mix in a clear plastic pot, and it seldom looks dry, so I don't water it overly much during spring/summer either. I would say I water maybe every 10 days starting Valentine's Day.... give or take. I just soak it good and let it drain, then put it back on the shelf. Fertilizer every other watering. I don't know if I am doing everything right, but it just seems to do well for me this way.
What I've read somewhere is to fertilize once a week during active growth (I tried to remember but usually do how I just mentioned). The leaves do not like to be wet, and the plant does not like to be repotted, but if necessary, do it during it's growth period. And the light requirements, according to what I've read, are full morning sun with afternoon shade, and mine gets indirect light from mid morning to mid afternoon. So I pretty much do nothing but bare minimal and it still blooms for me faithfully. I'm sure you will do fine.
