Default Galeopetalum giant Rhein Moonlight
The blooms on my galeopetalum giant Rhein Moonlight are now done and I'm not sure what to do next for it. Do I cut back the stem? It's drooping and browning at this point.

I always wait for the stem to brown all the way down before I cut it back, It just seems more natural for the plant to die back on its own.

I just lop it off as close as i can get with my shears without doing any damage to healthy tissue.

What ever it will be - it's going to be stunning !
I had no idea there were crosses betwenn kefersteinia (spelling?) and bollea .. Another awesome flower!
I have a kefer NOID whose buds kept blasting on me last year .. hopefully I'll get one to bloom completely this year ( Oh I hope )

the keferbollea is an awesome little flower. mine put up 3 flower spikes around valentines day which bloomed for about a month. then while watering this morning i noticed two more buds coming up!

Howdy,

I am thinking of buying a Galeopetalum Giant "Rhein Blue" that is see on Larry's Orchids website. It looks like a great plant.

Since you folks have some direct experience with it, would you answer a coupla questions?

It looks very much like a zygopetalum. Does it take similar culture conditions?

Is it fragrant? How long do flowers last? Anything that you particularly love/hate about this plant?

I'm a newbie with orchids, but I've been bitten by the bug and am interested in trying some additional varieties.

Thanks for any info you can share.

Oops, sorry....the plant that I'm thinking of buying is "Rhein Moonlight" not "Rhein Blue". Sorry for the misprint.
