Has anyone seen any hybrids of Mormolyca ringens? Male
Default Has anyone seen any hybrids of Mormolyca ringens?

I pollinated my Mormolyca ringens (which I guess is now called Maxillaria lineolata) with pollen from Maxillaria fulgens. It looks like the cross is taking. the base of the flower has started to swell up.
Has anyone heard of or seen pictures of this hybrid? I looked online and couldn't find anything so far.

I looked in Orchidwiz... no hybrid with Max fulgens, but there is a hybrid with Max. variabilis, called Mormariella [Mrml.] Midnight Madness (If Mlca. ringens is now a Maxillaria, the genus of the hybrid would be Maxillaria)

That should be an interesting result. I cannot wait to one day see pictures of these. (It will be quite a while, I know). Good luck!

I've been playing around with germinating seeds naturally, i.e without sterile nutrient media, for a while now. Last year I tried inoculating the trees with mycorhizzae from the roots of live orchids and have lots of seedlings popping up all over the place. Problem is I was pretty over zealous and spread seeds from any sort of orchid seed pod I could find, including a lot of orchids that I really didn't want a bunch of. I figured only few would grow. So now I get to wait and see what I get.
But that success has lead me to start playing around with hybrids. So far a few have taken to growing a seed pod. I'm curious to see if hybrids will germinate as well naturally. If I get any hybrids to bloom I'll definitely post some pictures.
