Default Hello from Ontario Canada

Happy to have found this forum!

I have tried my hand at orchids in the past and unfortunately I haven't been blessed with a green thumb.

I am hoping that with some help from experienced keepers I might be able to keep some alive and thrive for longer than a couple of months

I do not know what kind of orchids I currently have, they are some grocery store purchases to ease me into it, once I hit enough posts I will post some pics for ID. EDIT: Didn't realize I could upload a picture right away!

A little about me, I just moved into a new home with TONS of natural light, I have 4 dogs, 2 tortoises and have a modest collection of ball pythons.

I am looking forward to my new addiction!

Welcome to Orchidboard!

Once you understand how orchids are different from normal houseplants, you'll see that they aren't that difficult to grow. I think Phals are even more forgiving of non-green thumbs than most house plants.

There's lots of good information in this thread: The Phal abuse ends here.

Thanks everyone!

Camille I took a look at that very long thread and was able to utilize quite a bit of the info in there and have made some tweaks already to my care.

Default Welcome!

Welcome to The Orchid Board. Your photos show phalaenopsis orchids which appear to be growing very well. Since you are fairly new to orchid growing, I would recommend you begin by reading about the culture of Phals. Learn as much as you can and if you have questions, you can always ask here.
