Introduction - Orchid Board

Hi everyone,
Great to be among some very knowedgeble and like-minded people thank you for having me.
I am very new to this fascinating subject and as most of the information I have read, I'm becoming more and more addicted. Being new my inventory is limited, I have two phals and a Cambria (Cda x Milt x Odm x Onc). The two Phals are Tesco specials im not sure on the background but they have lovely big flowers.

I would very much like to continue to grow my collection, I do not have any specific genus I would have one of every species but my wife would complain. Im particularly interested in rare species and the discovery of new species. ( Im in the UK, our 50 species is a good start, is also home to Paphiopedilum calceolous which is one of my favourites.

Anyway, I am very much looking forward to learning and participating in this subject with you all.

. If you are interested in native terrestrial species there are a few of them which are commercially available and that grow well in the garden.

I had no idea that Cypripedium calceolus (and not Paphiopedilum

) is native in the UK! I've seen them in several places in the Alps, but didn't know the extent of their range.
