New here
Hello All,
I'm new to this board, but have been collecting orchids for about 3 years. Much of what I have has been acquired at bargain prices or given to me by aficionados. I've had relatively good success getting individuals to spike (Phals, Pahphs, Oncs, and mini-Dendrobium), but have other genera that seem to be healthy, but don't bloom (Grammatophyllum, Angraecum, Dendrobium, Stella, Maxillaria, and Phaius). I'd like to get advice from the group about what I may be doing wrong. I live in SE Georgia, USA and have a sun room where I keep most of my specimens. There are several wild orchids here in SE Georgia (e.g., Platanthera, Cleistes, Epidendrum, Pteroglossaspis, Spiranthes, et al.). I don't keep any natives except Epidendrum conopseum, which I found on the ground after a wind storm. I'm looking forward to posting pictures of and asking questions about my collection to this knowledgeable group. Glad to make your acquaintance!!

Hi CodiMN
Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm glad I found the forum too and plan to visit often (when I get back from travels for the next few weeks).

Finally....
....got my camera back. I'd left it at a friends house while traveling out of town. I retrieved some photos I took back in February and took some new ones, too. I've had this lavender Phal since Father's Day 2006 and it is now blooming for the 3rd time. It is my favorite! It always blooms profusely and is such a lovely color. I'm afraid that I don't know the name of this hybrid, though. Any thoughts? The other plant is 1 that a friend of mine picked up at a roadside stand in Florida. I immediatly repotted it and it appears to be doing well. I believe it is in the Oncidium alliance, but it hasn't bloomed and I have no idea what species it is. I've a lot more questions about other orchids I picked up here and there. I currently have several in bloom that I will share with the board soon.

Aboard great that you found the OB a friendly neighborhood with so much information here. Don't hesitate to ask a question and feel free to chime in. Great s the 4th on looks like it could possibly be a dendrobium aggregatum. Sweet yellow bloom
