Hi, from New Plymouth, New Zealand. I have been growing orchids about 20 yrs, we have a temperate climate in which I can grow Odontoglossums. Masdevallias, Promenaeas with a good deal of success. There is a very good Orchid soc in the area with some of New Zealands top growers as members. I am looking foward to belonging to Orchid Board.Cheers.Masda.

Welcome to OrchidBoard, Masda!! New Zealand is a beautiful place. I've only been there once, but if I could live anywhere else in the world, it would be there.

Your climate sounds similar to mine here in the UK. I grow Masdies on the windowsill here, and a few are just about to flower. We'd love to see photos of some of your collection! ( We love seeing photos! ) It also sounds like you've got a lot of experience that you can share - I look forward to reading your posts.

Cheers! Shakkai

Thanks for the welcome, I am not all that it may seem ,in the plant world I am known as a mass murderer, you will never learn all there is to know about orchids, but it is rewarding when you see a first time bloom that you have reared from birth. Thanks for the introduction.

Masda, nice quote! And so true! You should check out the thread: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...g-orchids.html

One of the reasons I gave was similar to what you've just said - I know there will always be something new to learn, no matter how many years I grow orchids.
