Default Hello!

Hey everyone,
I'm Beka from Boston. I am very new to Orchids,I have about 6 of them and they seem to be doing great. I have only had them about 2 or 3 months, the one that I have had the longest just finished dropping the blooms.
I will probably be adding more orchids to my collection later

It's nice to meet everyone!

I started with a phal too They are very rewarding when you can get home grown blooms as they last so long and you get to show them off to everyone (everyone, that is, who usually says how ugly they are when not in bloom ) I've never grown Dens as I've never felt drawn to them, but one of my neighbours does, so I still get to enjoy them

My neighbor got a phal for mother's day from her daughter. Which is funny cause I keep talking to my neighbor about my orchids that I got and she was always like "they seem to hard to take care of" so now we are having a contest to see who's last longer, lol. I just cut the spike on the one that the flowers just fell. I'm so nervous about cutting cause I feel like i'm gonna kill it. Hopefully I get some new growth I did see a new nub when i just watered it though. The den I saw was really pretty so I guess I felt a lil drawn to it. I'm more into flowers and gardening this year. I have no idea why but it's a healthy hobby/obsession

Tee hee, I felt like that when I cut my first spike It's only upward from here (fingers crossed) I've always grown flowers and indoor plants. However, I've been more into it since my dog passed on and my mum became ill. It's nice to have a distraction which can act as therapy and sometimes life just gives us the opportunity to expand and explore these things without us realising it

Last year I was in the yard alot this year i'm doing indoor and outdoor. it's been so rainy here so it's been tough doing the yard. So the orchids keep me busy. But I did cut the spike how everyone said to,i guess we will wait and see lol
